At WIH, breast augmentation with implant is a personalized journey designed to enhance both your shape and confidence. Under the expert care of Dr. Chettasak Tulayaphanich—a board-certified plastic surgeon with over 30 years of experience—we offer two main techniques: breast implants (used in 90% of cases) and fat transfer to breast (used in 10%).
We exclusively use FDA-approved, high-end implants from Motiva® and Mentor®, both known for their safety, durability, and long-term warranty. Among them, Motiva Joy® is the most popular choice, favored for its exceptionally soft feel, ergonomic adaptation to natural movement, and very low risk of capsular contracture.
Motiva® Breast Augmentation with Implant
Soft. Ergonomic. Naturally Beautiful.
Motiva is one of the most advanced breast implant brands used worldwide and is especially popular across premium hospitals in Thailand. Known for its natural feel, high safety standards, and adaptive ergonomic technology, Motiva implants are FDA-approved and CE-marked for global use.
Surface: Smooth & Nano-Textured
Motiva offers nano-textured surfaces designed for better integration with body tissue while minimizing inflammation and the risk of complications. Unlike older macro-textured implants, Motiva’s surfaces are engineered to reduce friction and provide long-term stability—with no reported cases of BIA-ALCL.
Shapes: Ergonomic Round Base with Adaptive Behavior
All Motiva implants come with a round base, but their ergonomic gel is what sets them apart. This gel adapts naturally to body movement and posture.
- When standing, the implant settles into a teardrop-like shape, mimicking natural breast ptosis (drop).
- When lying down, the gel redistributes evenly, maintaining a soft and balanced contour.
This dynamic behavior creates a result that looks and feels more like natural breast tissue, without the rotation risks of fixed anatomical (teardrop) implants.
Profiles: Demi and Full
Motiva offers Demi and Full profiles, which provide gentle to enhanced forward projection while maintaining a soft, natural slope. These profiles are ideal for most Asian body types and are carefully selected to fit the patient’s anatomy and aesthetic goals.
Models: Ergonomix® and Motiva JOY®
At WIH International Hospital, we offer the full range of Motiva models:
- Ergonomix® (Ergo 1) – Known for its natural softness and shape adaptability
- Motiva JOY® (Ergo 2) – The latest generation with enhanced softness, lower capsular contracture rates, and extended warranty coverage
Motiva JOY® offers unmatched safety and comfort, with built-in Q Inside® Safety Technology and eligibility for compensation in rare high-grade capsular contracture cases.
Digital Registration
All Motiva implants are digitally registered through the MotivaImagine® App, allowing patients to securely verify their implant details, access warranty documents, and receive personalized support. At WIH Hospital, our nursing staff will assist you with the full registration process.
Mentor® Breast Augmentation with Implant
Mentor implants by Johnson & Johnson are globally trusted for their firm structure, consistent performance, and wide selection options.
- Surface: WIH primarily uses smooth surface round implants for their natural mobility and low complication rates.
- Filling: Xtra Gel provides a firmer feel and maintains upper pole volume over time.
- Shapes: Available in round base shape, designed to maintain a consistent shape in all positions. Previously used anatomical (teardrop-shaped) implants are no longer recommended due to potential rotation and asymmetry.
- Profiles: Most commonly used at WIH are Moderate, Moderate Plus, and High Profile, offering controlled projection with strong upper pole definition.
Incision Options for Breast Augmentation with Implant
Patients may choose from three incision techniques based on anatomy, implant choice, and scar preference.
The inframammary incision, located in the fold under the breast, allows for precise implant placement and is ideal for dual plane techniques.
The transaxillary incision, hidden in the natural crease of the armpit, leaves no visible scars on the breast and requires endoscopic assistance for accurate pocket creation.
The periareolar incision, made along the lower edge of the areola, is best suited for patients with larger areolas and is commonly used for subglandular placement or corrective revision procedures.
Dual Plane Technique
Beautiful results rely on surgical precision. Most breast augmentations at WIH are performed using the dual plane technique, which positions the implant partially under the chest muscle and partially beneath the breast tissue. This hybrid placement creates a natural upper slope, improves lower pole projection, and reduces implant visibility, rippling, and animation deformity—especially in patients with thinner soft tissue coverage.
The most commonly used variation at WIH is Dual Plane Type II, where the implant is placed under the pectoralis major muscle but released from the lower portion to allow more natural shaping in the lower breast. Compared to Type III, which involves a more extensive muscle release for moderate to severe ptosis, Type II offers a balance between upper pole support and natural movement, making it suitable for the majority of our cosmetic cases.
Endoscopic Transaxillary Technique: A Scar-Free Alternative for the Chest
At WIH Hospital, our plastic surgery team, led by Dr. Chettasak Tulayaphanich (Dr. Chet), specializes in breast augmentation using the endoscopic transaxillary approach—a method that avoids visible scarring on the breasts.
This technique involves a small incision hidden in the underarm, through which a high-definition Olympus endoscope and endoscopic dissector are used to precisely create the implant pocket under direct monitor visualization. The result is a highly accurate placement with minimal trauma to surrounding tissue.
By avoiding any incisions on the breast itself, this approach offers a beautiful, well-balanced result with no visible chest scars—ideal for patients who value discretion and a seamless, natural appearance.
This technique is especially popular among Asian patients, including those from China, who often prefer scar-free outcomes and enhanced surgical precision.
